Aloha Friday #150

How could I *not* participate in an Aloha Friday blog hop meme? Aloha, people, I'm in Hawai'i! So my question for you is connected to the growing stress I feel around this time of the year. The kids have been safely tucked into their schools and the next big kiddo holiday will be Halloween. But I'm not the domestic diva I would like to be--as in, I don't sew. More specifically, I can't thread the bobbin on a sewing machine. This is definitely a #domesticdivafail.

So, Halloween worries me because I want my kids to have fabulous costumes to mark this holiday every year but I have to buy costumes to make it happen. And let's face it--you can spot a cheap store-bought costume a mile away. I scored one summer when my oldest was about 3 yrs old. I bought several gorgeous disney costumes at a yard sale. The Belle costume even had one of those big poufy slips!

Alas, both girls have grown out of those costumes and I find myself worrying about how to make Halloween special this year. Should I go all out with an expensive costume? (rhetorical question since its not in the budget these days). Or should I do something else to make Halloween special?

What do you do to make your kids' Halloween memorable?

  1. Thanks for the reminder that I need to find out what Princess Nagger wants to dress up for Halloween this year! Usually once I find that out, I'll scour eBay for a good deal on an awesome costume - I've gotten lucky while she's still small, but I wonder if my luck will run out now that she's getting bigger... :)

  2. I really don't do anything special. They get to get the candy out to the kids and they love it, so that works.
