Coupon Chief Creates Savings!

I was recently introduced to Coupon Chief, the largest source of online coupons and store discounts for apparel, electronics, travel, entertainment and more.  I'm no stranger to sites with coupon codes; in fact I'm a stalwart fan of them when it comes to shopping online.  If it can't be bought with a coupon code, I probably won't buy it.

So I come to Coupon Chief with fairly experienced eyes.  At first glance, I love the clean look and the easy navigation of the site.  You can use popular tags to browse their coupon database or you can use the search field at the top to look for specific savings, stores or codes.  If you're new to coupon code sites, there's an excellent tutorial HERE about how to use the site to save $$.  I was able to snag a 30% off everything for Kohl's credit card holders right out of the gate with Coupon Chief (and get great deals on Easter dresses for my girls!).

Not only is Coupon Chief great for finding the latest and greatest coupon codes for you to shop with but many of the codes are actually user-generated.  This is how it works: Coupon Chief members can enroll in the Pays-2-Share program where they can submit a coupon code, someone else comes along and uses the coupon.  The member who submitted the code earns 2% of the purchase price.

Not only can you save some money at Coupon Chief, you can also make some!  Signing up to be a member at Coupon Chief is free and easy.  Go check it out! I'm a fan!

prologue: I finished my Kohls Easter shopping after I published this post. Using two coupon codes I got from Coupon Chief, I saved over $32 on my purchase and got free shipping on top of that.  High five, Coupon Chief!

This post is brought to you by CouponChief.com.  Any and all opinions here are 100% mine.

Don't Throw Those Coupons Away! a book review and giveaway

Don't Throw Those Coupons Away!: A Mom's Guide to Saving Money at the Grocery Store
With all the hype of the new Extreme Couponing show (and even some drama) and the recent economy that has hit everyone, this is a great time to read
I have been couponing about a year and a half through my own trial and error; this book would have been a great guide to have when I got started.  It talks about the history of American couponing and gives some coupon facts which were pretty interesting, and even explains the common coupon lingo like ONYO ("On Your Next Order"- which is on coupons you can use the next time you shop).

The book answers some of the most commonly asked questions (since I run a coupon blog) like "where do I get coupons" and "how do I organize them".  And the coupon user also needs to know the importance of a "Stockpile"- this book discusses that and even lists which months are best for buying certain items based on store's sales cycles.

The Drugstore game is also covered in this book- which is where I get most of my household items like toothpaste and shampoo/conditioner for FREE!

Some advice I have to share is to get to know one store at a time (drugstore or grocery)- know it's coupon policy and get familiar with how to shop smart there.  Then try to tackle another store.  There are sites all over that will tell you what sales are going on in stores near you and which coupons to use with them- knowing the basics of couponing from this book will really help you feel confident in your transactions and savings.  Coupons have helped my family afford to eat more healthy and spend less at the same time.

This book is a great way to get started couponing! Get your copy today!

The Couponizer: A Review and a Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.comcouponizer logo
I used to have mad couponing skillz.  But I stopped couponing (and saving money!) because I was overwhelmed by the clutter of collecting/storing/organizing coupons.  Just to prove that, I pulled out my old couponing box to show you:
P1280017
It’s not pretty, is it? And so I was excited to get a chance to review the Couponizer.  Keep in mind that I didn’t really know what it was besides being a system for organizing your coupons so that saving money is easier.  But it saves more than just money! It saves sanity, time, and space.  It is the organizing system that absolutely covers all the bases for the couponer and makes me think, “Why didn’t I think of this?”
Each Couponizer system comes with:
The Couponizer booklet - measures 8" tall, 6" wide, 1" deep (before coupons), 18 pocketscouponizer1 for grocery coupons, 6 pockets for other coupons such as Restaurants, Retail, Rewards, 2 shopping pockets (Coupons to be used this shopping trip & Checkout), 3 loyalty card card sleeves, metal spiral bind, elastic closure strap, durable plastic covers.  The system also includes:
  • 1 Shopping List pad - 20 tear off sheets/cardboard backing
  • 1 CoupTracker pad - 15 tear off sheets/cardboard backing for record spending and savings by store
  • 1 CoupStacker - pre-sorting mat used to organize coupons according to pocket when clipping
  • 1 Carrying Bag - clear zippered vinyl bag
  • 1 pair of scissors
When you invest in the right tools any job becoming easier and more enjoyable!!   I organized my new Couponizer last week and did a weekly town shop.  I saved 45% at Safeway using my coupons and my Safeway card to stack discounts!  In my old couponing days, I would save more than that but hey its a start!  I was also able to pick up the Walgreen’s free after rebate items and then immediately turn around and use those instant rebates on necessities.  All in all, a fun shopping trip that was made oh-so- easy by the Couponizer I had stashed in my purse.  My favorite parts of the system is the list pad and the coupons for this trip pocket that lay side by side when you open the Couponizer.  I don’t have to flick through the other pages trying to find what I need or otherwise fumble with papers.  Once I get through check out or once I get home, I stash the receipts in their own pocket so I can use them for rebates or savings comparisons.  I would take pics of my Safeway and Wags receipts like a proud mama showing off her babies but I’ve already sent them off with rebates in the mail.  I’ve never been this organized! Mahalo nui, Couponizer!
My only suggestion for improving the Couponizer is that the cover could be more low key.  Remember when all we had were the diaper bags that shouted “baby on board” to everyone around us?  Well, the Couponizer is self-promoting with its lettering and I wish it were more “quiet” looking with maybe a black or neutral cover so that I can coupon a bit more furtively—you know, kind of sneak up on the savings.
Otherwise, the Couponizer is the go-to organizing system for those who want savings with the least amount of mess and crazy.  A thumbs up for this product!

SHOP: Check out the Couponizer HERE and you can take advantage of the promotional code FREEBAG (good until 2/14) where you get a Couponizer reuseable shopping bag with your purchase of the system.  Use the code to buy two Couponizers and get four shopping bags.

WIN: You are lucky because  The Couponizer is offering one lucky Moana Saves reader a free Couponizer system!  Here’s what you need to do to enter: As the mandatory entry, sign up for the Couponizer’s free email newsletter, The Dotted Line, and leave a comment saying you’ve done so. (Mandatory entry means that if you don't do this first, all of your other entries will be disqualified.)
