Mr. Bo Finds a New Home and New Name by Timothy Battle: A Book Review and Giveaway

Mr. Bo's arrival could not have been more timely. A couple days before receiving a copy of this book, my 7 year-old and I were discussing adoption and what that means. She had just watched a program with my husband in which a young boy from Brazil was adopted when he was an orphan baby by an American family and thereby afforded a more opportune life. We have several stray cats in our neighborhood, but I hadn't even thought of applying this principle to animals until we read Mr. Bo Finds a New Home and a New Name. The book is told through the eyes of Mr. Bo (aka Linus), a stray cat awaiting adoption. He faces rejection and despair, yet remains positive and strong in the face of adversity, sure that his dreams will come true -- invaluable life lessons I hope my daughter will emulate in her own life. My daughter was happy to read that Linus was adopted and given a new home and a fun new name - Mr. Bo.

She was even happier when I told her that this was a true story. She is now much more concerned about the stray cats in our neighborhood and is determined to help them all find a better, more comfortable life. I just love when books influence my children to do better and be better. Hooray for Mr. Bo (pictured right)!
