Mmm-mmm, I love me some grilling! Recently the folks over at Country Bob's sent me a bottle of their good ol' all-purpose sauce for review. The Country Bob's website describes their sauce perfectly with these words: "It was 1968 when Country Bob Edson perfected his sauce recipe and today we call it All Purpose Sauce because it was more than just a steak sauce." Note: this isn't just barbecue sauce but ALL-purpose sauce.
My family and I enjoyed our evening of country-style sauce. This is a medium-textured sauce; it's not too thick and not too thin. Many sauces are overly sweet for my taste but I liked how Country Bob's All-Purpose sauce has sweetness as well as a great savory flavor. I decided to mix things up and challenge the all-purpose claim by cooking Bob's baked beans.
Country Bob's Fantastic Baked Beans
53 oz can pork and beans, drain half of liquid
1/2 lb broiled or fried pork steak (bacon may be used)
2 cups Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce (or may substitute Spicy)
1 small onion, finely chopped
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 t Country Bob's Seasoning Salt
1/2 cup green pepper diced (optional)
1/2 lb broiled or fried pork steak (bacon may be used)
2 cups Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce (or may substitute Spicy)
1 small onion, finely chopped
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 t Country Bob's Seasoning Salt
1/2 cup green pepper diced (optional)
Cut pork steak in 1/2 inch squares. If using bacon, place on top of the beans before baking. Combine all ingredients and bake for one hour at 350 degrees.
----------------------------
All of us, picky young ones included, enjoyed this baked bean recipe. I included the diced green pepper as a way of sneaking veggies in to the kids' diet. The verdict: Delicious! More savory than sweet, which is my personal baked bean preference.
To Buy: Purchase some all-purpose sauce or one of Bob's other products (spicy all-purpose, true BBQ sauce, seasoning salt, etc) HERE.
GIVEAWAY: Country Bob's would like to offer TWO Moana Saves readers their very own bottles of all-purpose sauce. To enter to win leave a comment here telling me how often you grill in your house (assuming you have good weather)? We try to stick to at least once a week, either Friday or Saturday. In my wishful thinking I would like to grill more often but with little ones afoot I find all too often I run out of time.

ReplyDeleteWe only grill about once every other week in the summer, I wish it were more often but its pain and alot of trouble to do at my house since our grill is old and uses charcoal and needs to be cleaned out after every use, so when we do grill I try to make it good, and we LOVE country Bobs sauce and use it on alot of things, its the best so far we've tried

We actually don't get to grill right now. We are renting a house so our daughter can go to the public school she wants to go to and it's not got any room for grilling. We will move again in 2 years and will be buying a monster grill though and having it as often as possible. Lol.

ReplyDeleteWe grill out about once a week, but that goes up dramatically in summer here in SoCal when it gets hot. When I lived in Northern California I did bbq more than once when it was snowing out, thankfully we had a partially covered porch area.
